7 notice when engineering for civil housing

Đăng ngày: 30/12/2019

This consultancy is not out of the purpose of the motto of the company “Creating new values” for the social community in general and customers who have been and will come to M&E engineering units such as Galaxy M&E in particular.

Each person has have already experienced an issue or fault within their home that was needed to be replaced or repaired. When building a house, even though we have carefully calculated the electrical equipment that will be installed, unpredictable  errors may still occur.

Starting from this, as a unit specializing in consulting, designing and constructing mechatronics for industrial parks, factories, office buildings, hotels, Galaxy M&E will give advice to you before building or renovating the mechanical - electrical system for housing. This consultancy is within the purpose of the motto that the company has “Creating new values” for the social community in general and customers who have been and will come to M&E engineering units such as Galaxy M&E in particular.

When choosing decorative lights, you should see the layout drawings or interior drawings to easily select the lights for each position in the house.

When choosing decorative lights, you should see the layout drawings or interior drawings to easily select the lights for each position in the house.

1. When selecting and arranging indoor decoration lights

One advice for you is that if the budget is big, you should ask an experienced architect to choose and arrange the lighting surface for your house. Architects need to pre-select and give you photos of the luminaire they have chosen for you.

Many families have struggled to choose the decorative lamps for their homes, for the shops and restaurants, despite having much experience in the industry.

Without advice and choice in advance, you or anyone will spend a lot of time and will definitely get confused in the light shops. If you happen to meet a good salesperson but they are not knowledgable   regarding interior decoration, you will probably leave the shop with the lights that are not synchronized, and that isn’t suitable for the color of the house, etc.

Therefore, when choosing, you should have in hand the layout or interior painting images so that you can easily choose the lamp for each position in the house. Each room in the house will have its own function, and has its own beauty, from the key positions such as the living room, dining room, bedroom, etc to the extra positions such as the lobby, stairs, kitchen, bathrooms,… You should not only focus on the main positions but ignore the auxiliary functions.

Another note is that you should pay attention to the lamp capacity. If the type of lamp you have chosen has a different capacity than the designed capacity, you should notify the electrical engineer to check the area of the designed and installed conductors.

Families with young children should use pluggable sockets to prevent electrical accidents from occurring in the family.

2. When selecting sockets

You should choose to use a 3-pin outlet instead of a 2-pin socket. In the past, for economic reasons, people often used 2-pin power socket. This is incompatible with electrical design standards because it is completely unsafe for users. The third pin has the effect of preventing electric shock. When the conductor leaks, this third pin will receive the leakage current and go straight to the ground, without causing electric shock to the user.

When building a house, there will always be problems arising from the need to use electrical equipment. So in the design process, you should ask for the advice from electromechanical experts. Expert opinions will help you have a comfortable and friendly life.

3. Arranging sockets and electrical equipment in the house

This is the job of an electromechanical design engineer. They will provide you with layout drawings of electrical equipment including lights, sockets, switches and other electrical appliances in the house. Electrical and mechanical engineers will calculate the capacity of all the devices in your house, and choose the suitable type of electrical wire with the appropriate cross section. It is to ensure sufficient power consumption but not cause waste. After that, they will create wiring diagrams for construction workers.

However, one thing to note is that you shouldn’t only rely on electromechanical engineering. It is your home, where you live. More than anyone else, you understand and know your needs. So, ask the designer questions and listen to the solutions they offer.

You need to list out what electrical appliances you want to have in each room. Thinking, calculating, listing all the devices that can be used in the present and the future is the most effective way to minimize the lack of sophistication for the house. No one wants to stay in a house with only extended sockets and coils. This is both a loss of aesthetics and creates danger, especially for hyperactive and mischievous children.

In addition, you should also ask your electromechanical engineer to be careful when they create the layout of the socket and the indoor air conditioner so that it is suitable for the environment and safe for users.

Depending on the size and architectural characteristics of each house, we should make appropriate electrical equipment choices. A beautiful house must be arranged proportionately between interior and exterior.

For example, to instal electrical plug points for the kitchen you need to pay attention to the following points:

- Location of cooking stoves and kitchen appliances

- The light in the kitchen must be bright enough.

- Electrical outlet for exhaust hoods.

- Power sockets for microwave ovens, refrigerators, electromagnetic ovens

- Power outlet for dishwashers, water heaters used for washing dishes.

- How many backup power outlets are used for other kitchen appliances and where will these sockets be located?

- Telephone and television sockets (if necessary).

The height of the sockets will determine the convenience and safety of electricity during the utilization of devices.

The height of the sockets will determine the convenience and safety of electricity during

the utilization of devices.

4. Socket installation height

Light switches for bathrooms and toilets should be located outside the rooms, next to the doors. Power outlet is arranged according to the principle: Any mobile electrical equipment that is plugged into the power outlet will not obstruct any walkways.

There are two types of sockets: single socket, and double socket. You should choose a socket panel with a plastic sheet that covers the hole. Only when the plug is plugged in will this cover be pushed out so that the end of the plug is inserted into the socket to ensure safety, especially when there are young children in the house. Sockets are often located near places where electricity is expected to be used for devices such as fans, televisions, table lamps or other electrical appliances ...

The height of an outlet is usually 0.3 m to 0.5 m from the ground to the top of the socket mask. The socket for the nightstand should be placed at a lower right position from the cabinet or bed side table. The outlet in the bathroom should be over 1.1 m high and should be placed at a position where there is little to no contact with water via splashing. The outlet for telephone and television antenna or cable television should be placed at a height of 0.4 m where the telephone or television is expected to be located.

Electric leakage protection devices are often found in hot water tanks, and circuit breakers.

Electric leakage protection devices are often found in hot water tanks, and circuit breakers.

5. Use leak detectors

For safety in the use of electricity, you should use leakage protection devices in each circuit breaker. After installing a main circuit breaker, we should install an RCCB or ELCB. This type of device detects electrical leakage and automatically disconnects power when it detects leakage. The ELCB system will disconnect itself when it detects a leakage current greater than the rated leakage current. Humans can withstand electrical currents that are less than 50 mA. If we are exposed to a greater leakage current, we could get an electric shock, paralysis, nervous system damage, circulatory system damage, etc.

One has a variety of different current detectors to choose from. For example, for factories that contain many machines, UPS, or equipment that people do not use directly; RCCB / ELCB can be used with maximum leakage current of 100mA. Particularly for electrical appliances that people directly use such as refrigerators, washing machines, water heaters and electric stoves, there will be higher safety requirements. We should choose RCCB with leakage current is 30 mA.

From the main board, there must be a ground wire that will a receive leakage current. Grounding piles must be checked regularly every 6 months. If there is any damage or unsafety in ground resistance (less than 4 Ohm), one should replace it with a new ground pole or increase the number of stakes.

Conductor section depends on the power consumption of the equipment used.

6. Select the appropriate electrical conductor section

Wires for electrical equipment are usually single conductors or double wires. Common conductor cross-section table:

- Power cord for floors: Use wires with cross section of 2 x 6 mm2 or 2 x 10 mm2. You can use 2 x 6 mm2 double wires (if there are only 2 hot and cold water heaters, 2 - 3 air conditioners). The power supply cord should be separated into separate branches: Lighting wire, socket wire, air conditioner cord. It is recommended to use sockets from 2 × 2.5 mm2 to 2 x 4 mm2. If the bedroom only has a fan, and a small dryer, rather use a wire of 2.5 mm2.

- With light switches, fans; use wires from 2 × 1.25 mm2 to 2 × 1.5 mm2 (should use wires 2 × 1.5 mm2).

If you do not pay attention to the lightning protection system, it is likely that one day the equipment in your house will burn out.

7. Lightning protection for buildings - An important element in electromechanical construction

For houses located in less populated areas, or surrounding areas without tall buildings, you should install a lightning protection system to make your home truly safe.

Nowadays, the lightning protection equipment is very diverse. Depending on the important properties of the building, we should choose different types of equipment such as: protection radius, quality, structure and air-termination.

Hopefully some of the above notes will help you visualize a part of what you need to pay attention to when designing and constructing electricity inputs and outputs in your house. Beautify your home but do not forget to keep it safe.

In addition to the 7 notes mentioned above, in all work related to electromechanical, Galaxy M&E always upholds safety for families, safety in using electricity is a prerequisite to set before and during the use of electrical equipment. Therefore, to prevent and minimize the causes of electric accidents, every family member should learn measures to prevent electric accidents from occurring.

A comfortable, aesthetically pleasing, functional and well-furnished home will be effective only when you listen to the 7 notes of Galaxy M&E and know about security issues.
